Vaughan eyeing international comeback

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has said he is ready to return to international cricket after a brief layoff since standing down as skipper in August.
The Yorkshire batsman and former national captain is currently in India with the England Performance squad while the main team led by Kevin Pietersen is preparing hard to bounce back, after trailing the ongoing seven match ODI series 4-0.
The 34-year old was omitted from the one-day series in India and had said he wanted some time away from the game. The former opener played three games for Yorkshire towards the end of the season but had a poor run.
Vaughan, who led England to Ashes glory in 2005, feels he is still capable of battling the rigors of international cricket. “Over the last two or three months I've tried to clear my mind of all the issues I felt were disturbing my game and I feel in a great position to go out there, play cricket and enjoy the challenges which being an international player brings." he told the BBC Radio Five Live.
The former skipper felt he did a good job leading the English side and now hopes to earn the same praise as a player. “I've had five-and-a-half years as captain and I feel I contributed more as a leader than as a player. I want to get back to contributing as a good player who can hopefully score plenty of runs," he added.
After the ODI series against India, England will play a two-match Test series against the same opponent and will travel to the Caribbean islands in January.
In 82 Tests, Vaughan has scored 5,719 runs, including 18 hundreds and as many fifties.
