Veteran to lead England following Sciver-Brunt injury
England's regular skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of the third T20I against India at the Oval due to a left groin injury.
England women's captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will miss the third game of the five-match T20I series against India, after sustaining an injury to her left groin. The third game will be played tomorrow on Friday, 4 July.
The 32-year-old will not feature in Friday's clash, with the results of a recent scan set to determine her availability for the remainder of the series.
The fourth T20I is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 July in Manchester, while the fifth is slotted for Saturday, 2 July in Birmingham.
Experienced batter Tammy Beaumont will take over captaincy duties in Sciver-Brunt’s absence for the match at the Oval.
With 246 international games to her name, Beaumont brings a wealth of experience to the England side, who are 2-0 down in the series currently.
As a cover for Sciver-Brunt's absence, top-order batter Maia Bouchier has been added to the squad for the third T20I.
Known for her aggressive stroke play, Bouchier provides England with a reliable replacement option as they look to turn their fortunes around at home.
Sciver-Brunt had registered scores of 66 and 13 in the first two games of the series, with India coming out on top comfortably in both the games so far.
