Australian batter Georgia Voll has remarkably ascended to the summit of the ICC Women’s T20I rankings for batters, but the aggressive top-order star remains firmly grounded with the ICC Women's T20 World Cup on the horizon.

Voll’s elevation to the top of the rankings comes after a blistering run of form, that saw her smash her maiden T20I century against West Indies. However, she remains remarkably modest about her newly minted status as the world's premier short-format batter.

"I haven't played many games for Australia, so I'm not sure how I'm up there to be honest," Voll told AAP.

"Really, it's just numbers next to your name. I wouldn't say I am the best batter in the world, that's for sure.

"It's a nice recognition, but it's not something I pay a lot of attention to. The main priority for me is to score runs for Australia and get our team off to a good start," she added.

A key factor in her recent dominance has been the security of a permanent spot in the Australian XI. Previously hovering on the fringes of a star-studded lineup, a guaranteed role has allowed Voll to find her rhythm just in time for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup.

"When you're in and out of a side, it's hard to get that time in the middle and consistency you like," Voll said.

"That's been nice to have. You know whether you're going to play or not, rather than waiting if someone is injured.

"Feeling comfortable with the role of getting us off to a good start has held me in good stead over the past couple of games," she added.

As Australia prepares for the rigorous challenge of the upcoming tournament, Voll is not taking her form for granted, having attracted the eyeballs of world cricket after her fine run with the bat.

"There is always room to improve, and I have a few things I want to tinker with and work on because people are always going to work you out," she said.

With Voll anchoring the top of the order and firing on all cylinders, Australia who will enter a World Cup campaign without legendary Alyssa Healy after a long time, will feel confident that they have able hands at their disposal to fill the big void.
