Waist injury sidelines Rasel for two months

Bangladesh’s fast bowler Syed Rasel is likely to be sidelined for two months due to a waist injury he acquired during a three-day match against English county Leicestershire, according to official sources.
Rasel is in England as a member of the Bangladesh A team. Although he was injured when the game was in progress last week, the degree of the damage was unknown till he underwent a scan. According to the scan reports, the recovery is expected to take time.
Earlier, Rasel had to be sent back home from a tour of New Zealand due to a grave injury. Consequently, he missed out on most of the games since December 2007.
Bangladesh may miss the services of the left-armer or may even recall him if he is fit until the national team’s tour to Canada for a four-nation Twenty20 tournament starting from August 14 to 17. Following that, Bangladesh will be touring Australia for a three-match one-day series just before the ICC Champions Trophy starts in Pakistan.
The 24-year-old has played six Tests and 34 ODIs so far and clinched 12 and 44 wickets in the respective formats.
