With three innings remaining in the match, and just two days left, the washout leaves the draw looking the likely outcome. That would guarantee that Pakistan could not win the series, and England would just need to avoid defeat in the final Test to secure their first series win over Pakistan since 2010.

Mohammad Rizwan has led a fightback from Pakistan after England claimed three late wickets on day one, and the wicket-keeper is on 60*. His chances of reaching what would be his maiden Test century depend largely on the ability of No.11 Naseem Shah to hang around with him, although Rizwan will likely do all he can to protect the 17-year-old in the same manner as he farmed the strike during a 39-run partnership with Mohammad Abbas, during which the No.10 scored just two runs.

Pakistan will hope they can add a few more runs for the last wicket, but will be cautious about taking too much more time out of the game.

Stuart Broad and James Anderson have both claimed three wickets so far in the innings, and England will want one of them to swiftly take the final wicket to end the Pakistan innings.
