Wellington Cricket Officials to Visit Fiji

Officials from Wellington Cricket will arrive in Fiji on Wednesday as part of a new partnership agreement between them and Cricket Fiji.
Consultant Glenn Pockhnall and Senior Cricket Coordinator Clinton Butler will meet with Cricket Fiji chief executive Jon Symonds, High Performance Manager Steve Jenkin and Development Manager Josefa Rika to discuss building the relationship between the two organisations.
They will also run several courses at schools and for local staff and tour the west and Suva to inspect cricket facilities in the country.
Cricket Fiji chief executive Jon Symonds said he had already met with officials from Wellington on a previous visit to New Zealand to confirm the partnership.
But he said it was great they had agreed to send delegates to Fiji.
"Wellington and Cricket Fiji have similar values and are both committed to developing cricket," Symonds said.
"We are looking at ways in which we can work together so we can both can benefit from what they can potentially offer us by way of support and expertise."
Wellington's visit also coincides with a stopover from new ICC East Asia Pacific regional development manager Kieran McMillan and regional project officer Adam Cassidy.
McMillan took over the role last month and will visit all the countries in the EAP region as part of the role to meet and work with the local associations.
He and Cassidy will also be looking ahead to next year's Under 17 EAP championships which are being held in Fiji, and will be checking out facilities and logistics in preparation for this tournament.
The contingent will be in Fiji from November 2-9.
