West Indies provide update on Jeremy Solozano's injury

Solozano

Solozano was stretchered off the field after copping a nasty blow on the helmet while fielding at short fine-leg. Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne powerfully hit the ball, which struck the West Indies player.

After a long delay, he was taken off the field with Shai Hope being the substitute fielder. He was later taken to a hospital for further scans to reveal the extent of his injury.

In a further update, West Indies' Twitter account has revealed that the opener has faced no structural damage. He will be kept overnight in the hospital for further observation.

This is brilliant news for West Indies as well as the youngster, who is making his Test debut. They will be hoping for a quick recovery for the opener.

The first day of the Galle Test was dominated by Sri Lanka, with skipper Karunaratne leading the charge with a brilliant century.
