Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier: Day 5 wrap
Netherlands and Bangladesh confirmed qualification for the marquee event in June.
The Netherlands created history on Wednesday as they qualified for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup for the first time. In a rain-affected match, the Netherlands beat the USA by 21 runs by the DLS method to continue their unbeaten run at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier tournament.
Bangladesh also punched their ticket to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 as they defeated Thailand to extend their winning streak to five.
With eight points each, Bangladesh and the Netherlands lead the Super Six table and became the first two teams to go through to the main event through qualifiers. Scotland, Ireland, USA and Thailand are battling for the final two spots.
Scotland strengthened their qualifying chances with a 39-run win over Ireland in their first Super Six clash.
Here's how all the action unfolded:
Scotland claim crucial win over foes Ireland
The Scots have claimed an impressive 39-run win over Ireland to improve their chances of T20 World Cup qualification. The Irish were unable to get within striking distance of Scotland's imposing total of 160/5, all out for 121 in their final over.
Kathryn Bryce's return of 4/21 with the ball kept Ireland's batters in check, with captain Gaby Lewis (41 off 37) unable to find enough help in the run chase.
Scotland were blessed with several key batting contributions to help them post an unreachable target, led by Sarah Bryce's knock of 47 off 31 balls.
Scotland have another stern test next up, taking on Bangladesh, while Ireland have a crucial clash against the Netherlands.
