Ireland and Scotland secured their places for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 with big wins at the qualifying tournament on Sunday.

With a 62-run win over Thailand, Ireland confirmed return to the marquee event after missing out on the World Cup two years ago. Meanwhile, Scotland made the cut for the second time in a row as they defeated USA on the final day of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal.

Bangladesh and the Netherlands had already sealed their spots for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in England in June-July.

Ireland set for Women's T20 World Cup return

Ireland will return to the Women's T20 World Cup after clinching their spot at the Global Qualifer. The Irish team defeated Thailand by 62 runs on the final day of the qualifying tournament.

After electing to bat first, Ireland posted a competitive total of 121/8. The top order gave them a solid start with Amy Hunter (24), Lewis (25), and Orla Prendergast (24) all contributing to the cause. It was legspinner Suleeporn Laomi who helped Thailand stall Ireland's progress with a superb spell of 4/24.

Ireland secured a stunning victory over Thailand as they secured a spot at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.

Though it wasn't a daunting target, Thailand never really got going. Only two of their batters, Nannapat Koncharoenkai (15) and captain Naruemol Chaiwai (22), managed to register double figures as the Asian team was bowled out for 59 in 16.1 overs.

Medium pacer Arlene Kelly continued her impressive run in the tournament, snapping four wickets for just seven runs while Lara McBride claimed 3/6.

Ireland last played in the 2023 edition of the Women's T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh go five-for-five complete perfect Qualifier campaign

Bangladesh showed their class by completing a comfortable win against fellow Women's T20 World Cup qualifier the Netherlands.

The Dutch elected to bat first but struggled for rhythm in the early stages, slumping to 23/5 after eight overs. Despite great fight shown from Sanya Khurana (43 off 37) and Robine Rijke (39 off 45), who put on 78 for the sixth wicket, they only made it to 102/6 from their 20 overs.

Nahida Akter was the pick of the bowlers with 3/10 off four overs.

A comprehensive victory for Bangladesh over Netherlands.

The Tigers cruised to victory inside 17 overs and with seven wickets to spare, led by impressive captain Nigar Sultana Joty's 50* off 44.

Bangladesh have proven they will be formidable mid-year at the World Cup.

Scotland seal Women's T20 World Cup spot

It came down to the final match on the final day of the qualifiers, as Scotland and the USA battled it out for the last remaining spot for the maquee event.

Scotland, who made Women's T20 World Cup debut in 2024, won the toss and elected to bat first against the USA. With opener Darcey Carter in top form, the European side put up a formidable 178/8 on the board. Carter top scored with 52 off 34 balls, with the help of seven fours and two sixes. Lower down the order, Alisa Lister (43) and Priyanaz Chatterji (39) made sure Scotland carried the momentum.

Pacer Tara Norris, who finished as the top wicket-taker at the qualifying tournament, was once again the best US bowler on show as she claimed 4/33.

Scotland secure their spot at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup with a fine victory over USA.

Kathryn Bryce gave Scotland the perfect start, as she dismissed USA's Disha Dhingra in the first over. Chetna Pagydyala (24) and Ella Claridge (35) tried to get the chase going, with a 61-run partnership for the second wicket. But once they departed, the US challenge quickly dissipated and were bowled out for 137 in 19 overs.

Bryce, Chatterji and Chloe Abel claimed two wickets each to help Scotland to a 41-run win and seal the World Cup berth.

A total of 12 teams will compete for Women's T20 World Cup 2026 title.
