Overview

West Indies v Pakistan, first T20I
Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua
30 June, 2:00 PM Local

The last time the hosts played international cricket was when they toured England in September 2020. With the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifiers looming ahead, the home series against Pakistan will offer them a chance to ease into the international arena after a long time.

West Indies have a strong squad in place led by Stafanie Taylor and Anisa Mohammed as her deputy. They will also be bolstered by the presence of sisters Kycia and Kyshona Knight.

Pakistan, on the other hand, are also coming back after a 3-0 T20I series defeat handed to them by South Africa in January this year. They will be without the services of their regular captain Bismah Maroof, who is away on a maternity leave and will be led by Javeria Khan.

Remember the last time:

The last time these two sides went head-to-head in T20Is was in the group stage of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020. Pakistan registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win over West Indies.

Batting first, West Indies posted a below-par total of 124/7 despite resilient efforts from captain Stafanie Taylor (43) and Shemaine Campbelle (43). Pakistan cruised to victory with 10 balls to spare and lost only two wickets in the process.

However, the hosts have a better record overall, having won 10 of the 13 T20Is these teams have played against each other.

Anam Amin (Pakistan player):“West Indies is a very good team, especially in the T20s. We are going to Antigua for the first time as well. Our focus will remain on playing quality cricket against them because there are World Cup qualifiers and World Cup coming ahead and we want to set the tone with this series."
