India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is set to make his international comeback after battling cancer in Saturday's first T20I against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam.

The 30-year-old was diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs just months after winning the Man of the Tournament award at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Following three cycles of chemotherapy the explosive cricketer has now been given the all-clear to make his first appearance in a national shirt since November 2011.

The explosive left-hander is understandably relishing his return to the spotlight.

"It is hard to believe that I will be back playing again," said Yuvraj. "A few months back I had trouble climbing four steps, now I can't wait to take the field. It is like starting a new life."

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is also back in the international fold and is hoping to make his first outing for the national side in 13 months during the two-match series.

The teams move on to Chennai on Tuesday (September 11) for the concluding match before heading to Sri Lanka for the ICC World Twenty20.
