Zaheer to miss tri-series in Bangladesh

Indian spearhead fast bowler Zaheer Khan has opted out of the Bangladesh tri-series which begins on June 8. Earlier in the year, an ankle injury caused Zaheer to miss three Tests against Australia and also the home series against South Africa.

He has opted out of the Indian side for the Bangladesh tri-series due to the recurrence of his ankle injury which caused him to miss three games for the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL). Zaheer bowled well in the IPL picking up 13 wickets from 11 consecutive games but was forced to miss his side’s last three games.

The Indian selectors will meet on Friday to select the squad for the tri-series which also features Pakistan along with India and the home team.

Zaheer has ruled himself out of this series in order to gain vital rest and make himself available for the Asia Cup which begins on June 24 in Pakistan.
