ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final and Semi-Final venues revealed
Three iconic South African venues host the Semi-Finals and the Final of the Cricket World Cup 2027.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the venues for both semi-finals and the Final when the schedule was revealed for Cricket World Cup 2027.
Newlands Stadium in Cape Town will be the venue for the first semi-final on 17 November, with Tshwane hosting the second semi-final on 18 November.
The Wanderers in Johannesburg will hold the tournament final on 21 November.
All three knockout matches are day matches beginning at 10:00 local time, and all have assigned reserve days if required.
The Wanderers holds a special place in global tournament folklore.
The venue hosted the 2003 Cricket World Cup final, where Ricky Ponting made a trophy-winning 140 not out from just 121 balls, helping Australia to a 125-run win over India. Four years later, India claimed the inaugural men’s T20 World Cup trophy, when Sreesanth claimed the catch off the bowling of Joginder Sharma to dismiss Misbah-ul-Haq to complete a five-run win.
The venue will also host the India-Pakistan Cricket World Cup 2027 fixture on 10 October, one of its three group stage fixtures, as well as two Super 7 encounters.
Before semi-final No.1, Cape Town will be the talk of the cricket world when it hosts a Cricket World Cup 2023 final rematch, a group stage curtain-raiser between India and Australia on 7 October.
Tshwane hosts three group games and a Super 7 encounter at the tournament before it rolls out the red carpet for their semi-final showdown.
