The last automatic entrant for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier via League 2 play will be decided on Wednesday, with Oman's meeting against UAE completing the 2024-2026 cycle.

Sitting in fourth, Oman must either win or avoid a heavy defeat to confirm their spot, with only Namibia able to overtake them by virtue of a Net Run Rate tiebreaker.

As it stands, Oman would only find themselves in Net Run Rate jeopardy with a defeat of over 130 runs, or if UAE were to chase a target set by Oman in around 23 overs or quicker.

Clinical Netherlands down Oman in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 2023-27 tussle in Dubai.

Oman had the chance to close out a top-four spot six matches ago during their home tri-series on October 13, though have been bereft of answers in finding a way to claim one last win to close out.

The side lost three of their last four matches in their home tri-series leg with Nepal and Canada, and have fallen to three defeats in UAE, once against the hosts and twice against Netherlands.

The stretch of defeats has kept the side from the sultanate on 33 points and with a Net Run Rate whittled down to -0.202, still above Namibia's -0.278 through their 36 matches.

The fourth-place finisher (either Oman or Namibia) join the three as direct entrants to the Qualifier, with the bottom four (Nepal, UAE, Canada and either Oman or Namibia) to go to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.

The Play-off links the bottom four of League 2 with the top two finishers in each Challenge League group, with the top four finishers of that competition completing the line-up for the Qualifier.

The top-two teams in each Challenge League group have been determined, with Jersey and Kuwait prevailing in Group A, and Italy and Uganda from Group B.
