ICC Women's Player of the Month nominees for January revealed
An Ireland teenager in the form of her life and two of Australia's most consistent performers have made the shortlist for the ICC Women's Player of the Month Award for January 2024.
Amy Hunter (Ireland)
The right-hander started the month with scores of 36*, 21 and one in three ODIs against Zimbabwe, but it was in the three-match T20I series against the same side that she really shone.
Hunter struck an unbeaten century in Ireland's commanding 57-run triumph to start the series and the 18-year-old backed up that eye-catching effort with scores of 77* and 42 to help her side on the way to an emphatic series sweep over Zimbabwe.
Dismissed just once during the three T20Is in January, Hunter amassed an impressive total of 220 runs and was dismissed just once as her stocks continued to rise.
Beth Mooney (Australia)
The ever-reliable top-order performer was at her usual consistent self during January as she scored three half-centuries in T20I contests against India and South Africa.
Mooney's first score in excess of 50 came in the decisive series-clinching third T20I against India in Mumbai and the 30-year-old continued that impressive form on home soil when she added scores of 72* and 82 in a Player of the Series effort against the Proteas.
With a total of 256 runs at an average of 64 and a strike-rate greater than 100, Mooney enjoyed a prosperous month in T20I cricket as she helped Australia to a pair of series triumphs.
Alyssa Healy (Australia)
The Australia captain commenced the new year in sensational style as she smashed a quickfire 82 in the third ODI against India in Mumbai to help her side clinch a 3-0 series sweep and built on that effort with another half-century during the T20I portion of their tour of the sub-continent.
Healy then amassed scores of 8, 28 and 56 during the three-match T20I series against India to be named Player of the Series in Australia's narrow 2-1 series triumph.
A trio of decent innings back home against South Africa capped off a superb January for Healy, with the 33-year-old finishing the month with 174 T20I runs at an average of 29 and a brilliant 82 from her sole ODI at the beginning of the month.
