West Indies eager to embrace opportunities against Zimbabwe
Shane Deitz expects a challenging tour in unfamiliar conditions across the six-match white-ball series.
West Indies head coach Shane Deitz says the upcoming Zimbabwe tour will present a valuable opportunity for the team’s younger players to make their mark, with three ODIs and three T20Is scheduled across the two formats.
“We are looking forward to this tour of Zimbabwe,” said Deitz.
“They are a side we haven't played much, and, in their conditions, there will be some challenges. We have a young squad, so this is a great opportunity for some players to step up and take their opportunity at this level.”

Cricket West Indies has named a 15-player squad for the tour, which will see the West Indies Women play three ODIs from 24 to 30 September before the three-match T20I series from 3 to 7 October.
The core of the squad has been retained following the team’s tour of Ireland and campaign at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, with two changes made for the Zimbabwe series.
Eboni Brathwaite comes into the squad in place of veteran all-rounder Deandra Dottin, who has been granted personal leave and will miss both legs of the tour.

Experienced all-rounder Chinelle Henry, who replaces opener Qiana Joseph, also returns after recovering from an injury suffered during the T20 World Cup that saw her subsequently being ruled out of the ODI tour of Ireland following the tournament.
Captain Hayley Matthews will lead the side during the ODI series before taking personal leave and departing the squad ahead of the T20I leg. The squad will therefore be reduced from 15 players to 14 for the T20Is.
The tour will also provide the West Indies with an opportunity to build on the progress made across their recent assignments, while giving a number of younger players the chance to gain further experience at international level.
The ODI series forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship, with Zimbabwe hosting the West Indies at Harare Sports Club. The T20Is will follow at Takashinga Cricket Club.

Zimbabwe are currently 10th in the Women’s Championship standings, having lost all six of their matches in the current cycle. West Indies sit fifth with four wins from nine matches and arrive in Zimbabwe after a 3-0 ODI series sweep against Ireland.
The tour will mark the first bilateral series between the two teams across formats.
