India scripted history on Sunday as they defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final to capture their third title.
During the month-long event held in India and Sri Lanka, incredible individual and team performances lit up the stage.
Here we look at all the records created during the tournament:
3: India defeated New Zealand on Sunday to become the first team to capture three T20 World Cup titles. Their previous T20 World Cup triumphs came in 2007 and 2024. The defending champions also became the first team to win back-to-back titles and the first to win a home Men’s T20 World Cup.

255/5: India’s score against New Zealand was the highest total in a T20 World Cup final, and the highest in any T20I knockout or playoff match.
250+ scores: India became the first team to register two 250+ scores in a row. They had made 253/7 against England in the semi-final. This was India’s third total over 250 in the tournament – they also put up 256/4 against Zimbabwe which is the highest team total at T20World Cup 2026.
383: Sahibzada Farhan raised the bar higher for most runs in a single edition of the World Cup by scoring 383. At the time he set the mark, the previous best was 319 by Virat Kohli in the 2014 edition. However, Tim Seifert (326) and Sanju Samson (321) have also gone past Kohli’s tally since.
176: Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman put on 176-run opening stand during Pakistan’s Super Eight clash against Sri Lanka. It stands as the highest partnership for any wicket in T20Is.

92: India raced to 92/0 in the first six overs, which was the joint-highest Powerplay score in a T20 World Cup match. It equalled West Indies’ 92/1 in the Powerplay against Afghanistan two years ago.
89: Sanju Samson registered the highest individual score in a T20 World Cup final as he made 89 against New Zealand on Sunday.
499: During their epic semi-final, India and England registered the highest match aggregate at T20 World Cups by piling 499 runs. While India posted 253/7, England just fell short to wrap up at 246/7. It was also the second highest match aggregate in T20I history.

18: Abhishek Sharma brought up his half-century in the final against New Zealand in just 18 balls, making it the fastest of this edition and the fastest in a T20 World Cup knockout game.
24: Sanju Samson hit 24 sixes through the tournament, the most in a single T20 World Cup edition.
33: Finn Allen brought up the fastest century in the Men’s T20 World Cup history, as he raced to the milestone in just 33 balls. The previous best was a 47-ball ton by Chris Gayle against England in 2016.

Finn Allen smashed 18 boundaries as he rewrote the ICC Men's T20 World Cup record books with his unbeaten 100 off 33 balls.
106: Total number of sixes by India at the World Cup. It is the first time that a team had hit over 100 maxiumums in a T20I event.
146.00: Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett scored 292 runs at an average of 146.00 during the 2026 tournament. Not out in four of the six innings he played, Bennett now holds the highest average at a T20 World Cup.
