South Africa batters put on a run-fest against Tanzania, finishing with 397/5 off their 50 overs to post the highest score of the ICC Men’s U-19 Cricket World Cup 2026.

The total marks their highest in the tournament history, the eighth highest overall since the competition's inception. This betters South Africa's previous best of 359/6 against Namibia in the 2012 edition.

South Africa's innings eclipsed Sri Lanka's milestone outing against Japan in their opening game of the tournament.

The Proteas rode on twin tons from captain Muhammad Bulbulia (108) and Jason Rowles (125*) to put the Tanzanian bowlers under the pump.

Batting first in their second game of the tournament, Jorich van Schalkwyk set South Africa on their way with a quick-fire 47 with opening partner Mogamat Lagadien (32) playing the support role.

Bulbulia and Rowles then got into the act to take South Africa past the 300-run mark, adding 201 runs for the third-wicket stand.

While Bulbulia was dismissed shortly after reaching the triple figure mark, South Africa didn't step their foot off the pedal. A breezy cameo from Paul James, 46 runs off just 18 deliveries, kept the momentum going as they fell just three runs short of the 400-run mark.

South Africa came into the game against Tanzania on the back of a defeat against Afghanistan in the first game and will eye a victory to get their campaign back on track.
