LIVE: Rain-hit CWC25 clash resumes with 46 overs each
Both the teams will be keen to notch up wins in an important encounter to decide their fate in the tournament.
NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN, SCORECARD
Pakistan’s first innings in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 clash against New Zealand resumed after rain brought a temporary halt to play.
The match was reduced to 46 overs per side with New Zealand set to chase an adjusted target under the DLS method in the second innings. Their powerplay will last nine overs and only one bowler will be permitted to bowl a maximum of 10 overs.
Earlier, New Zealand claimed three quick wickets against Pakistan before rain interrupted play at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo.
Omaima Sohail was the first to fall, trapped LBW by Lea Tahuhu while attempting to flick one off her pads. Jess Kerr then delivered the big breakthrough, dismissing Muneeba Ali, who had given Pakistan a steady start during the powerplay. Ali miscued a pull shot off a short delivery, only for Suzie Bates to pull off a superb cat at mid wicket, leaving Pakistan two down early.
Tahuhu continued to apply pressure on Pakistan, picking up her second wicket soon after the powerplay. Sidra Ameen tried to go big but miscued her shot, offering a catch Eden Carson to backward point.

Earlier, New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bowl first against Pakistan.
Both the teams would be looking to get a winning momentum going as the race for the semi-final heats up. While New Zealand have a win under their belt against Bangladesh and another point from the rain-affected game against Sri Lanka, Pakistan are still searching for their first win of the tournament.
Fatima Sana's side would have fancied a win against England in their previous encounter, but rain had the final say.
The White Ferns will be hoping the skipper continues her fine form in their pursuit for a second win.
Pakistan on the other hand, are at the bottom of the table with a solitary point and they will look at the next three games as knock-out encounters vie for a semi-final spot.
