History of cricket

The Tajikistan Cricket Federation was established in 2011 and subsequently, was granted the membership of the Asian Cricket Council in 2012.

Considering the current unprecedent growing interest of youth, TCF with the support the Committee of Youth Affairs and Sports, have planned to focus their energies on the key areas i.e. domestic competitions, infrastructure development, administrative reforms, financial sustainability and growth.

Our cricket journey started with just one ground and one multipurpose facility in 2011, we are now working on acquiring another ground, enabling us to provide our players with more opportunities to play and develop their cricketing skills.

With the help of Afghanistan Cricket Board, we plan to organize coaching and umpiring courses, invite Afghan players to participate in our domestic competitions whereby providing opportunities to the local players to rub shoulders with international players. We feel by doing so our players would improve their ability to produce results at a higher level.

In the past we had invited Afghanistan Cricket Board’s women’s team to visit Dushanbe to play three 50 over matches against Tajikistan’s women team, our men’s team also visited Kabul to play a few matches against their local clubs. The support provided by ACB will go a long way in developing cricket in Tajikistan. Gradually, we plan to build on the resources that were available and ensure that we provide our players the best possible opportunities that we can offer with the limited resources that are available to us.

2020 was a difficult year due to COVID and a lot of cricketing activities were suspended through the world. Tajikistan managed to organize Dushanbe Premier League under strict Government guidelines with six teams participating. This was the feather in the cap for TCS, we plan to have this event annually.

In 2021, we plan to increase the number of teams and tournaments both for men and women to give them the opportunity to develop their skills for future events.

We hope that once the ICC membership is granted, we would make extra effort to accelerate the development of our facilities, enhancement of educational courses, work on high-performance programs and organize short tours of men and women teams to our neighboring countries.
