USA Cricket announces details of historic election process
The elections will begin on 18 May, where seven constituent Director positions will be open. They will comprise three Individual Directors, two Player Directors, one Club Director and one League Director. The seven constituent Directors will then appoint the three Independent Directors recommended by the Nominating and Governance Committee announced last week.
Nominations are now open for members seeking to stand in the USA Cricket elections and the process that includes eligibility for voting is as follows:
- To be eligible to vote in the USA Cricket elections, you must register as a member of USA Cricket by 11:59pm ET on 24 April 2018. Interested individuals can register here.
- The preliminary list of all eligible individuals, clubs and leagues to vote will be announced on or around 27 April and will be open for a peer review.
- Prospective Directors are invited to submit their application and a one-page candidate statement that is due to the Nominating and Governance Committee by 8 May. Additional information on the application process will be available here soon.
- The final list of all eligible candidates for election will be announced on 13 May.
The details of the election process follows last week’s announcement of the Nominating and Governance Committee that is charged with the responsibility of verifying the eligibility of candidates to stand for election for the seven constituent Directors as well as recommending the three Independent Directors for the inaugural Board of USA Cricket.
The Sustainable Foundation Advisory Group (SFAG) is confident that the election process will attract a diverse and truly representative candidature for the historic elections.
Dr. Vince Adams, a SFAG Member, said: “We have worked incredibly hard to develop a Constitution and a membership base that unites the wonderfully diverse cricket community in the USA. Our hope and our expectation is that this diversity is reflected in the inaugural USA Cricket Board and we are very excited to announce this process which we are confident will attract the best possible candidates.”

Notes to Editors
- Three Independent Directors: at least one of whom must be female. They must be completely independent from any cricket governance or administration for at least the last three years. This ensures a balance of constituent and non-constituent Directors, reduces the risk of divisive politics within the Board and enables USA Cricket to recruit skill sets and experiences that would not otherwise be represented on the Board.
- Three Individual Directors: who will be elected by the entire Individual Membership (other than the International Players), thereby introducing the prospect of every Individual Member across the country having the right to directly influence who should represent them on the Board.
- Two Player Directors: one female and one male - elected by the International Players who have represented the U.S. senior team in any event recognised or sanctioned by the ICC in the last ten years. This ensures the Board has female and male representation from those who have played the game at an elite level.
- One Club Director: who will be elected by all registered and eligible clubs, thereby introducing the prospect of every club across the country having the right to directly influence who should represent them on the Board.
One League Director: who will be elected by all registered and eligible leagues, thereby acknowledging the continuing need and importance of the Leagues as vital stakeholders in the structure moving forward, which is also emphasized by the creation of a new Leagues Committee (reporting directly to the Board) which will contain representatives of the two biggest leagues in each of the six Zones across the country.
