23-year old seamer Freya Davies has expressed her delight at earning her first full central England contract, after the ECB released their first 21-player raft of 2019.
Davies has been an integral part of her Sussex side for a number of seasons, having first appeared for her county aged 14. Recent displays for Western Storm have helped further her reputation, seeing her earn a full contract despite being uncapped.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to receive my first full contract. It's always been my aim to represent England and this is an exciting step in the right direction," Davies said.
"I’m looking forward to continuing the hard work, and the challenge now of getting myself picked."
England have a busy schedule this year, with an away series against India, beginning later this month, the first trip on their agenda. Proceeding onwards, contests on home soil against the Windies and Australia and the Windies will be the focus.
Beth Langston and Tash Farrant did not earn central contracts this time around, while Dani Hazell was absent from the list due to her retirement, which she announced last month.
Bryony Smith, Linsey Smith, Alice Davidson-Richards and 19-year old Katie George, all England debutants in 2018, have earned rookie contracts for 2019.
Full central contracts: Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Sophie Ecclestone, Georgia Elwiss, Jenny Gunn, Alex Hartley, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Laura Marsh, Nat Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Sarah Taylor, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield, Danni Wyatt, Alice Davidson-Richards, Katie George, Bryony Smith, Linsey Smith
