We asked fans to tell us which player from a previous era, they think, could have been a hit in T20 cricket. Here are the responses.
While T20 is the shortest and the fastest cricket format, it is more than just a demonstration of power-hitting. It is also a means to showcase skill and character. There have been several flamboyant cricketers in the past, who have mesmerised fans with their no-holds-barred style and their ability to drive a game with their individual performances.
It is hard to think of a more powerful batsman than Viv Richards and he would have definitely lit the shortest format on fire.
Sir Viv Richards He was a giant when it came to hitting the balls clearly over the boundary lines. His career of ODI's comprised him of hitting 605 fours and 126 sixes. That is 3176 runs of his total 6721 runs in boundaries. pic.twitter.com/Opz8vN1BsN— Trends For You 💥🔥 (@Prateek074) May 23, 2020
Sir Viv Richards 🙏🏻. In IPL, He would have been bought for a minimum 10 cr, and in T20s his SR would have been 150+, with 6-7 sixes in almost every single T20 competition. Viv Paaji, with his swashbuckling play, would have finished few cricketers' career 😂😎. #Cricket #T20Is pic.twitter.com/ewBsLqwk63— V Shashank (@shashankv76) May 23, 2020
💯% Sir Viv Richards— Axel Blaze (@axelblazeindia) May 23, 2020
This great Batsman had an 90+ Strike Rate in his era. So I think that he is best option. pic.twitter.com/adrTnD53m7
Sri Lanka great Aravinda de Silva's exploits in ODIs, could easily have translated into successes in T20Is.
While T20 is generally considered a batsman's game, there are some bowlers like Wasim Akram, who would have been a force to reckon with.
Wasim Akram. Could have very very lethal in the death overs with those perfect yorkers.— Abhay (@cricabhay) May 23, 2020
Batsmen win you games but Bowlers win you tournaments, Wasim Akram it is!!— Ketal Jain (@jain_ketal) May 23, 2020
Mark Waugh, Kapil Dev, Kris Srikanth, Gilbert Jessop ... the list is endless. One can only imagine the havoc these superstars would have wrecked.
