Debut ton anchors Netherlands' 308

In reply, UAE got off to a slow start, finishing the day at 74 for 2, off 41 overs
Following hampered play on day one and a washout on day two, Netherlands and United Arab Emirates took to the field on Wednesday for day three of their Intercontinental Cup match.

Netherlands' Eric Szwarczynski and Shahbaz Bashir, who had scored 19* and 3* respectively on day one, were at the crease at the start of play. The pair put on a 107-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Szwarczynski was caught on 44. Bashir went on to score a century - the first Netherlands' batsman to score a century in his debut first-class game - before falling for 102.

United Arab Emirates bowlers claimed regular wickets after this stand, claiming five wickets for 19 runs to leave Netherlands reeling on 267 for 9. A quick-fire 23 from number 11 Sebastiaan Braat saw Netherlands reach a total of 308.

Right-arm Medium pacer Amjad Javed finished with the best figures of 4 for 49.

In response, the UAE batted slowly to reach two for 74 off 41 overs. Opener Arfan Haider scored 19 and Haroon Iftikhar made 14. Shaiman Anwar and Khurram Khan were at the crease at stumps
