The success of ICC Cricket World Cup’s digital platforms has been recognised at the double this week.
Firstly the Sport Industry Group have unveiled the Official Shortlist for the BT Sport Industry Awards 2016, featuring a variety of outstanding campaigns, sponsorships, programmes, brands and activations from across 13 different categories. In a second separate nomination, the official ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 App has been shortlisted for Sports App of the Year at the Sports Technology Awards 2016. You can see further details by clicking here.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 was seen as a landmark success for the ICC’s proactive digital programme. The event website attracted an unprecedented 36 million unique visitors and accumulated over 300 million page views; which represented a 10-fold increase on any previous ICC event.
The success of the official tournament app was also hugely significant, which was downloaded more than 4.5 million times and was ranked as the number-one sports app in no fewer than 48 countries around the world.
