Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry is looking forward to a potential thriller against India Women at the WACA when the two sides face-off in a one-off pink-ball Test.
It'll be the first ever day-night Test for India Women, and the clash is pencilled in to begin on September 30.
Perry believes the pace and bounce on offer at the WACA would hand Australia an advantage. "Playing a Test match there before, it's an absolutely wonderful venue for a women's Test," she was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
"The pitch provides that little bit of extra pace and bounce, the ball carries though really well, there's a little bit of sideways movement.
"That's certainly in (our) favour … our conditions and the Australian style of cricket, but having said that, looking at the Indian team, some of the skills of their players, particularly their batters, it's going to be a really well-contested Test match and a great opportunity for both sides."
The historic Test match will be the first between the Australian and Indian women’s teams in 15 years, and the series will mark the first time the two sides have met since the record-breaking T20 World Cup final at the MCG in 2020! pic.twitter.com/T5m9yiXnZA— Cricket Australia (@CricketAus) May 20, 2021
Perry also stated that, despite the history of WACA producing fast and bouncy tracks, the decision to field an all-out pace attack will depend on the conditions.
"(Playing four fast bowlers) would be really dependent on the conditions and how the wicket presents at the time, but one of the great things about the group and the way it's evolving is there are some wonderful players coming through," she said.
"Certainly, some great young quicks but I think equally our spin stocks are just as exciting. There are some great options there and one of the strengths in the last little bit is just how balanced our side is across the board."
Apart from the one-off Test, Australia Women will also take on India in a three-match ODI and T20I series, in what promises to be an exciting summer of cricket.
