CRUCIAL T20I CONTRIBUTIONS

West Indies were dominant in the T20I series against Pakistan, winning it 3-0. While Matthews was not exceptional but her handy contributions in the series helped the hosts assert their dominance. In the first T20I, she scored a 28-ball 32, the highest score for the hosts in a low total of 136/6. She then picked up the important wicket of Muneeba Ali, returning economical figures of 1/18. West Indies won the match by 10 runs.

In the second match, while she failed with the bat, she picked up the wicket of opener Javeria Rauf and gave away just 13 runs in four overs. In the last T20I, she was again stellar with the ball, registering figures of 1/12 in four overs.

PLAYER OF THE SERIES IN ODIs

In the five-match ODI series against Pakistan, the Windies opener delivered a Player of the Series-worthy performance, scoring 168 runs at an average of 42.00 and also picked seven wickets.

Her start to the ODI series was lukewarm, scoring just 16 runs in the opener but she slowly got into her element, improving as the series progressed. She picked up the wickets of Muneeba Ali and Nida Dar, bowling tight lines and then followed that up with an important 49 at the top as West Indies won by eight wickets. She was named the Player of the Match for that game.

In the next game, she delivered another all-round performance – registering figures of 2/30 in 10 overs and slammed an unbeaten 100, giving the Windies another eight-wicket win. West Indies lost the fourth ODI but Matthews starred with the ball again – accounting for the wickets of Muneeba Ali and Kainat Imtiaz. She also dismissed Javeria Khan in the final ODI.

West Indies won the series 3-2, with Matthews emerging as the best performer of the lot.
