South Africa have named a 17-member squad that will be led by Temba Bavuma for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India, starting 19 January.
Left-arm seamer Marco Jansen, who recently made his Test debut in the ongoing series against India and impressed with figures of 4/55 in the second innings, has earned a maiden call-up for the ODI leg of the series.
South Africa will be without the services of their star pace bowler Anrich Nortje who has not recovered from a hip injury and is continuing with his rehabilitation.
Wayne Parnell, Sisanda Magala and Zubayr Hamza have been retained from the ODI squad that was selected for the Netherlands series last month while Dwaine Pretorius, who last played an ODI in July 2019, makes a comeback.
"For many of our players, it does not get bigger than playing against this powerhouse Indian team and this will be the biggest series of their young lives so far," said Victor Mpitsang, CSA Convenor of Selectors.
"We are looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table and wish Temba (Bavuma) and Mark (Boucher) all the best for the series," he added.
Squad: Temba Bavuma (c), Keshav Maharaj (vc), Quinton de Kock (wk), Zubayr Hamza, Marco Jansen, Janneman Malan, Sisanda Magala, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne.
