Afghanistan have named uncapped wrist spinner Noor Ahmad in their ODI squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka later this month.
Watch the three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on ICC.tv in select regions for $1.99 USD.
Senior all-rounder Gulbadin Naib also returned to the fold after being an injury replacement in the T20 World Cup squad. Noor Ahmad, 18, is yet to make his ODI debut, but is already popular around the world for his performances in T20 franchise league.
On his T20I debut against Zimbabwe earlier this year, Noor snared figures of 4/10. Recently, he was part of the T20I squad for the Asia Cup in UAE.
"The selectors have included some young faces for the series which is a good sign for us leading into the ICC Cricket World Cup next year," Naseeb Khan, the CEO of ACB said.
"The series is vital for us in terms of our qualification for the mega event next year and I am sure the squad carries enough strength to do well when they get to the field."
Afghanistan are currently placed seventh in the Cricket World Cup Super League. The ODI series, which will have all three matches in Kandy, is part of the Super League and will begin on November 25.
