Side scheduled to play three ODIs in Baroda; England to join both teams for T20I tri-series in Mumbai
Soon after its return from a tour of South Africa, India will host Australia for the three ICC Women’s Championship matches, starting on March 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed on Friday.
England will then join the two teams for a Twenty20 International tri-series in Mumbai.
The India-Australia One-Day Internationals will be on March 12, 15 and 18 in Baroda.
The tri-series, held in a double round-robin format, begins on March 22 with the host taking on Australia at Brabourne Stadium. The finals will be on April 3.
The matches will be useful preparation for all teams ahead of the ICC Women's World T20 in the West Indies at the end of the year.
Before the ODIs, Australia will take on India A in two warm-up matches in Mumbai.
The two series, coming soon after its tour of South Africa where it plays three Women’s Championship ODIs and five T20Is between February 5 and February 24, make for a busy schedule for India.
Australia was last in India for a bilateral tour in 2011-12, when it swept the ODI series 3-0 and won the T20Is 4-1. When India visited it in 2016, the host won the Women’s Championship matches 2-1, but lost the T20I series. The team’s last meeting was in a memorable semifinal at the ICC Women's World Cup, when India, driven by Harmanpreet Kaur’s 171 not out, knocked out the defending champion.
