James Anderson

'An amazing achievement' – cricketing fraternity in awe of Anderson's feat

James Anderson

A month after Stuart Broad reached 500 Test wickets, his partner for long, James Anderson went a step further to become the first ever pace bowler to 600 Test wickets. Only three other bowlers, all of whom are spinners – Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble – have more than 600 wickets in the longest format of the game. Anderson is only behind Muralitharan in terms of balls taken to get to 600 wickets. His incredible feat came in for special praise from teammates, opponents and former cricketers.

The disappointment of getting out was tempered for Azhar Ali, who found the time to appreciate Anderson's achievement.

Batsmen hailed him as one of the best they have ever faced. His former teammates were also in awe at the outstanding achievement.
