England issue fitness update on Curran and Jacks

While Curran will undergo surgery for a groin injury, Jacks's availability for the upcoming assignments is subject to fitness

England all-rounder Sam Curran has been dealt an unfortunate impediment to his potential return to Test cricket.

England Cricket have confirmed in a statement that Curran will not feature in the remainder of their home season and will undergo surgery for a groin injury.

Curran had last featured for England during the recent home series against India, where he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the T20I as well as the ODI series.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Will Jacks is currently recovering having had a successful operation to remove his appendix. England stated that they will monitor his progress before taking a call on his availability for the Sri Lanka series. 

England will host Sri Lanka for three T20Is followed by as many ODIs starting September 15. 

The Test side is currently playing against Pakistan in the first Test of a three-match series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
