Hong Kong out to carry hot home form into 50-over series

Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Kuwait and Malaysia turn their attention to the longer white-ball format after meeting in a T20 series along with Bahrain earlier this month.

The hosts Hong Kong will want to continue their stirring form on home soil after storming through the recent T20 series undefeated - including with a 39-run victory over Malaysia in the final - to build on an impressive Asia Cup campaign last year.

This tri-series will be Hong Kong’s first 50-over matches since missing out on a place in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off when they finished third in their Challenge League group, and they will be out to maintain their momentum under new coach Simon Willis.

Malaysia had a tougher Challenge League campaign with only four wins from 15 matches and a fifth-place finish that leaves them on the brink of dropping out of the pathway event.

As one of the bottom two teams in their group, Malaysia will face a precarious relegation play-off next year that will decide whether they return to the Challenge League for the next cycle.

Kuwait have been building on their experience in T20s and appeared at the recent Asia Cup, and can now use this series in Hong Kong to gain more valuable experience in the 50-over format.
