Hosts Nepal progresses to ACC U16 Elite Cup final
A hard-fought encounter between two closely-matched teams ended in a win for Nepal by 32 runs against Malaysia in the first semi-final of the ACC U16 Elite Cup played at Tribhuvan University Ground on Sunday. Nepal will now meet Singapore - who beat Hong Kong by 133 runs in the other semi-final at Engineering Ground - in the final on Tuesday.
Defending their team total of 162 all out off 40 overs, Nepal bowlers Bibek Chaudhary (3-23) and Rajiv Shah (3-13) produced some fine bowling to dismiss Malaysia for just 130 off 38.1 overs to help take their side to victory.
In the seventh/eighth play-off, Kuwait posted a 68-run victory over Thailand at Army School Ground. Batting first, Kuwait posted 159-7 and then limited its opposition to just 91 all out in 21.4 overs.
Malaysia will next battle it out with Hong Kong for third place at Army School Ground on Monday, while Bahrain plays Saudi Arabia at Engineering Ground for fifth place.
