ICC Dream11 Daily Fantasy tips: England v West Indies
England vs West Indies 3PM I ST The Hampshire Bowl - Southampton
However, England do have the home advantage in their favour and also have a good record at this venue. They have won their last four ODIs that were played here, and have beaten the Windies twice here before. They also have some in form batters like Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Joe Root and Jos Buttler, with Jonny Bairstow yet to show his best form. If they can play to their full potential, England will be a tough side to overcome. Though Windies have bowlers like Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder and Oshane Thomas in their ranks, England have been awfully consistent in the ODI format in recent times, and thus, walk into the match as favourites.
Predicted XI:
England: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (c), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (wk), Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
West Indies: Chris Gayle, Shai Hope (wk), Evin Lewis/Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder (c), Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas
Starpick team and predictions:
Wicket-keeper: Wicket-keepers, more often than not, fetch points in every game due to the dismissals they affect behind the stumps. If they are in-form batters as well, they get hard to resist in the Fantasy team. Buttler is among the highest run-scorers in this tournament, and while he bats down the order, he can always be relied upon to score some quick runs in the death overs.
B atsmen : Bairstow has not yet fired to his potential in the World Cup, but has been a key member in taking England to the number one ranking in ODIs. He opens the innings, and if he can get his eye in, a big score can be expected from him. Jason Roy, the opener, has scored the most runs for England thus far with 215, including a hundred and a fifty. He is the in-form player and also opens the innings, which means that he has the full 50 overs to create an impact. Eoin Morgan has all the skills to anchor an innings if a few wickets fall upfront, and he can be the X-factor in the Fantasy team. Shimron Hetmyer might not have had many opportunities with the bat thus far, but an ODI average of more than 40 along with a strike rate of close to 109 ensures that he is no fluke with the bat. Nicholas Pooran has chipped in with decent contributions, scoring 74 runs in his two innings.
All-rounders: Just like in-form keepers, all-rounders can also make or break a team. The fact that they can contribute with both bat and ball, hence getting points from both departments, make them a Fantasy player’s delight. Holder and Stokes both have fared well and are one of the best all-rounders in the World Cup so far. The Windies skipper has four wickets in two games, including a 51 in the match against Australia, while Stokes has picked up five wickets, which includes 3/23 against Bangladesh in the last game. He also scored a crucial 89 in England’s win over South Africa in the first World Cup game to win the Player of the Match award.
Bowlers: Seamers are going to get plenty of assistance, especially as a heavy cloud cover has been predicted for match day. Sheldon Cottrell and Thomas have been very impressive so far and are likely to cause a few problems for the English batters. Thomas is one of the leading wicket-takers with six at an economy of 5.62, and Cottrell has five, at an economy rate of 5.41. He had struck twice in the previous rained out game against the Proteas and can do some damage with the new ball again. Archer has been the standout performer for England with six wickets at a decent economy of 5.22, and he is coming into the game with three wickets and could be potent against an inconsistent West Indian batting unit.
Captain: Jonny Bairstow
