Kenya's hopes to level series washed away by rain
At Belfast: Second ODI Ireland 18-2, eight overs Match abandoned due to rain
Despite a promising start, Kenya’s hopes to level the series in the second One Day International against Ireland at Belfast was washed away by rain after only eight overs of play.
After winning the toss, Kenya sent Ireland in to bat and soon reduced it to 18-2 before the rain came pouring down. Peter Ongondo and Thomas Odoyo packed the openers William Porterfield and Gary Wilson for three and nought respectively with Paul Stirling unbeaten on four and Andre Botha on 11 when the match was called off.
The match was also special for all-rounder Kyle McCallan who made his 200th appearance for Ireland.
The two teams will next meet on 27 August at the same venue in the third and final ODI of the series. Ireland had won the opening match by 33 runs to lead the series 1-0.
