Pakistan beats Sri Lanka in Twenty20 match
Offspinner Saeed Ajmal and seamer Naved-ul-Hasan took three wickets each Wednesday to lead Pakistan to an impressive 52-run win over Sri Lanka in a Twenty20 international.
Batting first after winning the toss Pakistan made 172-5 in 20 overs and later bundled out the hosts for 120 in the 19th over.
Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi led from the front with 50 runs off 37 balls.
Sri Lanka made a promising start to its chase as openers Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Udawatte scored more than 10 runs an over during their 39-run stand.
The partnership ended when Udawatte (11) was trapped leg before by Naved.
Jayasuriya (23) departed without any addition to the total, caught by Umar Akmal off Mohammad Aamer after smashing two sixes and a four in his 17-ball innings.
Captain Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene then combined for a promising partnership of 32 runs. But Abdul Razzaq took a well-judged catch to dismiss Jayawardene for 12.
Sangakkara top-scored for Sri Lanka with a 38 that came off 31 balls, including a six and two fours. He was bowled by Ajmal.
A batting collapse followed Sangakkara's dismissal as the hosts lost their last six wickets for 20 runs.
Earlier, Afridi smashed two sixes and four boundaries and put on 66 in 43 balls with Umar Akmal (30) after his side made a poor start losing by Kamran Akmal in the innings' first ball, bowled by Nuwan Kulasekera.
Imran Nazir hit five boundaries and a six to score 40 off 28 balls, while Razzaq made 25 not out off 17 deliveries.
Seamer Thilan Thushara had the best figures for Sri Lanka, picking up 2-37.
Wednesday was the last match of Pakistan's tour. Sri Lanka won the test and one-day international series.
