Pawar congratulates Tendulkar for 50th Test hundred

International Cricket Council (ICC) president Sharad Pawar sent a congratulatory message to India batsman Sachin Tendulkar for scoring his 50th Test century.

Tendulkar became the first man in history to achieve this feat. He scored his record century on Sunday against South Africa in the first Test at Centurion. Tendulkar eventually remained unbeaten on 111 even as India lost by an innings and 25 runs on Monday.

``Our (ICC) heartiest congratulations to you on reaching a great landmark of the 50th Test century. It is a testimony to your tremendous cricketing skills, dedication and devotion to this great game. Not only the followers of cricket in India but the world over will rejoice this historical moment and cricketers everywhere will always try and follow the illustrious path shown by you,?? said Pawarin a message delivered to Tendulkar in Centurion.

Tendulkar?s 50th hundred came at a time when India was facing a stiff ask in the first Test against the hosts, South Africa. He played a part in India?s fight back.

``This achievement is all the more memorable as it has come at a time when the Indian team needed it most and looked upto you for yet another major contribution. Congratulations again and our best wishes for more sparkling performances ahead,?? added Pawar.
