The Monier Shield is two Events rolled into one major activity.
There is the longer format, split innings round robin initially from May 14 - July 3, and then there is a T20 Monier Cup Event in mid September.

"The Split innings format promotes attractive, fast and aggressive cricket and adds the need to look at tactics," said Cricket PNG CEO Bill Leane. "It will be a winner.?
"The two events (The Shield and the Cup) allow Cricket PNG opportunity to bring in many more Regional players to participate than in years past," said Mr Leane.

"It is important to thank George and Kostas Constantinou as well as Brett Young and the entire Team at Monier for the enthusiasm and support given to Cricket. To have the Monier Brand featured across this major Event continues our success in Associating with the biggest Brands and Business's in PNG and provides enormous opportunity for our amazing local talent to shine."
"This years Monier Shield will showcase more Local talent and will be more exciting than any Event in our recent history."
"We hope the Media and the spectators all get down to Amini Park to watch PNG's brightest and most exciting players compete for over K30,000 in Prize money," said Leane.
