The Brian Bell Future Starts scholarship holders played big parts on the weekend for their respective Melbourne based clubs in the 3rd round of the Victorian Cricket Association Sub District Competition.

Last week saw rain wash out the majority of cricket over the weekend, but the boy's caught up on lost ground with their performances over the weekend.

Joel Tom stared with ball for his club Kingston Saints taking 4/19 of 8 overs. In Kingston's reply with the bat, Jack Vare fell for 44 (75) falling just short of his half century against Brighton.

Jason Kila narrowly missed a hatrick while playing for Box Hill against Caulfield. After collecting wickets on his 1st & 2nd delivery, the third wicket was dropped in cover. He ended up with 2/13 of 4 overs. He then backed up with 20 runs and Lega Siaka pitched in with 41 runs in the first innings of their two day game.

An under strength Broadmeadows suffered a first innings loss to Kew, going down by 8 wickets. PNG's Assad Vala was however a shining light on a disapointing day for the meadows scoring 85.

For Royal Park Brunswick, Willie Gavera and Charles Jordan Amini put in iron man efforts bowling 21 overs each against McKinnon. Willie Gavera took 3/52 and Charles took his first 5 wicket haul in Australia finishing with 5/54.

Norman Vanua batting at number 10 for Airport West scored 11 n.o. for their first innings score of 175 and John Boge Reva missed out plying this week due to Don Vale game washed out from overnight rain.
