Scots to play Pakistan
Kyle Coetzer is set to return to Scotland colours in the Lloyds TSB Scotland?s squad to play against Pakistan in the first of a clutch of ICC one-day internationals, at the Citylets Grange next Sunday, July 1. The Durham player has been enjoying an excellent season in the county championship, and is now keen to transfer that form to the national team.
Also in the 13-man squad are veteran Warwickshire all-rounder Dougie Brown and Watsonians captain Gordon Drummond, who would make only his second appearance at senior level, and his first against a Test-playing country.
The match, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Scotland Corporate Markets, is a bonus for Scotland, as it was requested by Pakistan as a prelude to their ?offshore international? game against India in Glasgow two days later. For national captain Ryan Watson, it is a very welcome addition to the fixture list.
"Every game we play at this level gives us a chance to improve our world rankings, so it is a significant event for our players. Last year, we made the Pakistanis work hard for their victory. We would like to go one better this time."
The Scots are also lining up to play the West Indies, as well as hosts Ireland and the Netherlands, in a four-nations event in Dubliin next month, before meeting India in Glasgow in mid-August.
Scotland squad: Ryan Watson (Forfarshire, captain); John Blain; Majid Haq, Omer Hussain (both Ferguslie); Dougie Brown (Warwickshire CCC); Kyle Coetzer (Durham CCC); Gordon Drummond (Watsonians); Neil McCallum (Grange); Dewald Nel (Worcestershire); Glenn Rogers (Stenhousemuir); Colin Smith (Aberdeenshire); Fraser Watts, Craig Wright (both Greenock).
