Kenemmanjane Cricket Club (KCC) has welcomed a gift of cricket equipment from the UK-based Coaching Cricket Excellence (CCE).

The club from Sierra Leone received a donation of bats, batting pads and gloves, balls, trousers and various other items designed to help with the development of playing standards.

KCC Chairman, Emmanuel Pessima expressed his gratitude at the welcome delivery.

He said: "This donation will be the beginning of something wonderful. We would like to thank Coaching Cricket Excellence and their donors for their wonderful contribution. It will really help us and we are very grateful to them and Tejan Cole (Club Patron who paid the freight fee)."

CCE, a coaching agency based in Ealing, west London, donates cricket equipment around the world, with projects also set up in Uganda, India, Rwanda, Afghanistan, the West Indies and South Africa.

Director Peter Wellings said: "We supply cricket kits and other sporting equipment to parts of the world that are not as advantaged as Britain and Sierra Leone is one of those countries. We have more than enough cricket equipment in Britain both new and old, and we believe it's only right that people elsewhere make use of it, rather than it being available to those who have plenty already."

He added: "Kenemmanjane Cricket Club is doing a wonderful job helping generate interest in cricket. Keep getting the children involved from as young an age as possible and you will have more donations from all over the world to compliment your effort."

KCC is an affiliate member of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, with men's and women's teams competing in domestic competitions.
