The International Cricket Council (ICC) has today announced the squads for the first fixtures of the seventh and final round of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Championship and the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2011-2013.

Canada will host second-placed Netherlands on 27 and 29 August in two WCL Championship ODIs at King City, Toronto. The two sides will also face off in the four-day, first-class Intercontinental Cup fixture from 22-25 Augustat the same venue.

The top two sides from the WCL Championship will qualify automatically for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, while the bottom six teams will receive a second chance to progress at next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand, when they lock horns with Hong Kong, Nepal, Papua New Guinea and Uganda for the final two spots.

Ireland has already won the WCL Championship to become the first Associate or Affiliate side to qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, and cannot be overtaken, irrespective of the results of the seventh round matches.

In a tight battle for second position, Netherlands currently holds the spot with 15 points, leading Scotland and Afghanistan on net run rate, with the UAE one point behind in fifth position. A 2-0 victory for Netherlands will strengthen its claim for the crucial second position on the ladder.
