Mark Wood fit for England opener

Wood, who has a long history of ankle issues, pulled up two balls into his fourth over during the warm-up contest with Australia on Saturday.

He left the field with what the England and Wales Cricket Board described as "left foot discomfort" and wasn't able to return to add to his sole scalp of opener Aaron Finch.

But a nervy wait over Wood's availability for the initial throes of the tournament was alleviated after the ECB confirmed the issue is minor enough that he will be available for the opener at the Oval on Thursday.
