Match officials named for T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight
A total of 16 officials will serve as umpires while four officials will serve as the match referees during the Super Eight stage.
The International Cricket Council has named the match officials for the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which begins February 21.
There is plenty of experience in the ranks, with a total of 16 umpires from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires and the ICC Emerging Umpires Group to go with four Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees during the second phase of the tournament.
With New Zealand taking on Pakistan in the opening Super Eight clash in Colombo on Saturday, Rodney Tucker and Paul Reiffel will serve as the on-field umpires. Allahudien Paleker has been appointed the TV Umpire while Sam Nogajski will take on the role of fourth umpire.
When co-hosts Sri Lanka take on Pakistan on February 28 in Kandy, Tucker will also be the on-field umpire along with Nogajski.

Australia’s Nogajski will also oversee the England v Pakistan clash on February 24. alongside Nitin Menon.
Adrian Holdstock is also part of the officials’ team based in Sri Lanka. The South African will officiate England’s matches against Sri Lanka in Kandy on February 22, and against New Zealand five days later.
When Sri Lanka take on New Zealand in Colombo on February 25, Paleker and Asif Yaqoob will be the on-field umpires.
Group 1 starts with the blockbuster clash between co-hosts India and South Africa, which is a repeat of the 2024 final. Chris Gaffaney, who officiated the final two years ago, will serve as the on-field umpire for Sunday’s clash in Ahmedabad, along with Richard Kettleborough. Alex Wharf takes charge as the TV Umpire while Chris Brown has been appointed the fourth umpire.
Gaffaney and Wharf join forces for the final Super Eight match, which will see India lock horns with the West Indies in Kolkata on March 1. During India’s match against Zimbabwe on February 26, Wharf and Kettleborough are the on-field team.

Kumar Dharmasena stood for this 50th T20I as an umpire when Australia played Oman in the final group game of the T20 World Cup on Friday. The Sri Lankan, who won the 1996 ODI World Cup as a player, will officiate the West Indies v South Africa clash on February 26 with Shahid Saikat, and the South Africa v Zimbabwe match on March 1 with Richard Illingworth.
Zimbabwe has been the surprise package of this World Cup, beating Sri Lanka and Australia to progress to the next stage. When they begin their Super Eight journey against West Indies in Mumbai on February 23, Illingworth and Jayaraman Madanagopal will oversee the action.
