Oman, Canada get key wins in the first round of fixtures.

Eight teams are in action on Thursday in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up games as teams seek much-needed practice ahead of the marquee tournament which starts on February 7.

In the first game of the day, Oman edged past Nepal in the last over, while Nepal went on to secure a comfortable victory over Canada.

The evening fixtures see Australia take on the Netherlands in Colombo, with New Zealand going up against USA in Navi Mumbai.

Put in to bat first by Oman, Brian Bennett gave Zimbabwe a flying start. The opener smashed 56 off 28 balls as Zimbabwe raced to 86/1 before Sufyan Mehmood got the breakthrough in the eighth over.

Fellow opener Brendon Taylor (26 off 20) retired in the ninth over, after which Zimbabwe lost three wickets in quick succession to slip into a precarious position at 94/5.Dion Myers led the rebuilding effort with 26 off 29 balls, while Tashinga Musekiwa provided a much-needed late flourish, blasting 54 off 28 deliveries to take Zimbabwe to 187/7.

All-round team effort sees Oman get a confident win by beating Zimbabwe by 4 wickets in their final ICC Men's T20 World Cup Warm-up 2026.

Mehmood starred with the ball, returning figures of 3/26, while Nadeem Khan picked up 2/26 and Shah Faisal claimed a wicket. In reply, Aamir Kaleem (23 off 11) provided a quick opening burst for Oman before falling in the third over. Jatinder Singh’s 55 off 33 balls and Hammad Mirza’s 35 off 25 laid a solid foundation for the chase.

Karan Sonavale (15 off 14) and Vinayak Shukla (10 off 5) kept Oman in the hunt, before Jiten Ramanandi’s unbeaten 34 off 18 balls guided Oman to victory with four balls to spare.

Canada chose to bat first but lost an early wicket with opener Yuvraj Samra departing cheaply. Navneet Dhaliwal (41 off 36 balls) and Kanwarpal Tathgur (25 off 24) then steadied the innings and laid a solid foundation. However, the momentum was halted when Canada lost three wickets in the space of five balls.

A late surge from Shreyas Movva, who smashed an unbeaten 38 off 19 balls, and Jaskarandeep Singh (21 off 11) lifted Canada to a total of 161/6.

Nepal got off to the perfect start in the chase, with Kushal Bhurtel (12 off 11) and an aggressive Aasif Sheikh, who struck 58 off 29 balls, setting the tone. Sundeep Jora (44 off 30) and Gulshan Jha (31* off 25) kept the momentum going and took Nepal to the brink of victory, before Dipendra Singh Airee and Lokesh Bam finished the job with two overs to spare.

For Canada, Ajayveer Singh, Jaskarandeep Singh, and Saad Bin Zafar were among the wicket-takers, picking up a wicket apiece.
