Injury forces change in Ireland's T20 World Cup squad
T20 World Cup technical committee approves change following back injury for Ireland fast bowler.
Ireland have called in Jane Maguire as an injury replacement for Ava Canning, who has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup with a stress fracture in her back.
The change was approved by the event technical committee on Wednesday (17 June), and Maguire will be available for selection for her side's next World Cup match against New Zealand on Friday.
Canning missed Ireland's second T20 World Cup 2026 fixture against England, replaced by Louise Little.

England keep the momentum rolling as they register the second win of their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign by defeating Ireland by 4 wickets.
Despite a fightback from Ireland's bowlers, they were eventually outrun by the hosts in Southampton, succumbing to their second defeat of the campaign after also losing to Scotland on Saturday.
Maguire herself was at one point out of selection consideration for the tournament after a knee injury sustained in early May on domestic duty.
After an ahead-of-schedule recovery, Maguire joins sister Aimee in the Ireland squad, who are hunting their first ever win in the history of the competition.
