Injury forces change in Scotland’s T20 World Cup squad

Abtaha Maqsood has been ruled out from the Scotland squad following an injury sustained during their warm-up game against Pakistan.

Scotland have named Hannah Rainey as the replacement for Abtaha Maqsood in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad. 

The replacement approved by the Event Technical Committee of the tournament was forced after Rainey picked up a metacarpal fracture during Scotland’s warm-up match against Pakistan on 9 June.

Scotland eased past Pakistan in a rain-affected game.

Rainey, who plays for Yorkshire, has featured in 41 T20Is for Scotland, nabbing 25 wickets.

The right-arm medium pacer, who made her debut in 2018, is yet to feature on the big stage for Scotland. 

Slotted in Group 2, Scotland will begin their tournament on June 13 against Ireland at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.
