Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is keen on ending England's nine-year ICC title drought, with her sights set on lifting the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 while also inspiring a new generation of girls to take up the sport.

"A win could change what women's cricket looks like in this country. Just the carrot of that is enough to motivate anyone, really. It certainly could change what this team is about,” Sciver-Brunt said, speaking to BBC Sport.

England have consistently been one of the top-performing teams over the past decade, but have lacked the silverware to reflect their dominance. Their last major triumph came in 2017 when they lifted the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup on home soil.

Sciver-Brunt, who has been a key figure throughout that period and has now led the side for over a year, believes the team has underperformed in recent ICC events and is determined to change that with a title-winning campaign at home.

"Being in those teams and being in those squads, the feeling was that we certainly could have won a bit more,” she added.

“We would have liked to have won a lot more than we have done and we'd obviously like that to change this summer."

The skipper is hopeful of kickstarting a purple patch with a triumph at the home T20 World Cup, aiming to build a consistently good team, something she believes England have lacked over the past decade.

"We didn't really do it after 2017, but being a consistently good team is something that everyone tries to do," she said.

"I'm hoping we can be a consistently good team and we'd love to start off with a T20 World Cup win."

England kick off their ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign in the tournament opener against Sri Lanka on 12 June.
