England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt remains on track to lift the ICC Women's T20 World Cup trophy at Lord's after she successfully helped her side move through to the title decider with an emphatic victory over South Africa on Thursday.

Sciver-Brunt returned from injury in style with an innings of 75 that saw her named the Aramco Player of the Match, as England stayed unbeaten at their home T20 World Cup and booked a place in the final against Australia with an impressive showing against the Proteas.

England beat South Africa by 40 runs and marched into the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

England posted a good total of 169/5 on the back of Sciver-Brunt's 75 from 47 balls and an eye-catching all-round display with the ball meant South Africa's run chase never really threatened the victory target.

It means England get the chance to match their exploits from the 2009 Women's T20 World Cup and break a 17-year drought at the tournament when they take on six-time champions Australia in Sunday's final and Sciver-Brunt is already looking forward to the occasion.

"I guess when you see a home World Cup in the diary, you always sort of imagine yourself there at the final and, with a chance to lift the trophy," Sciver-Brunt said after the 40-run win.

"So yeah, I guess that drive has always been there.

"It's obviously a great common goal to have as a team, to be able to try and reach a final of a home edition of a World Cup."

Nat Sciver-Brunt led the charge from the front, delivering a crucial knock of 75 off 47 balls against South Africa to be named Player of the Match at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Sciver-Brunt received ample batting support from former skipper Heather Knight, with the duo putting on a partnership of 133 in good time after the hosts lost three early wickets against the Proteas' strong pace bowling lineup.

England's bowlers then made regular breakthroughs in reply, with Sciver-Brunt turning her attention to the final just moments after the victory over South Africa was confirmed.

"I guess it's what we've been preparing for, and not only during this competition but in the months before that, throughout the sort of winter camps that we've had and everything to be able to perform on the bigger stage," she said.

"I suppose we've set ourselves up with an amazing opportunity to be in a home World Cup final and you don't get that many times in your career.

"I think we've got what it takes."

England produce a clinical performance to beat South Africa and book their place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Final.

And Sciver-Brunt is not concerned by the fact Australia will have two extra days to prepare for the Lord's showdown, with the England skipper instead happy to ride the wave of emotion and crowd support that will be on their side when the two teams go to battle on Sunday.

"As a group we take our recovery seriously and we'll be doing everything that we can to, be fresh as fresh as we can for that match.

"We can't really help the scheduling of, who plays in what semi-final, but the home crowd will certainly be there at Lord's and I think that will hopefully give us some home advantage."
